My secret in the kitchen is when in a pinch, cook a one-pot meal. Nothing tastes better, is easier to execute and gives the whole family real comfort food. I love to make a chicken stew loaded with veggies (onions, carrots, garlic, celery, swiss chard, white beans, green beans, sweet potatoes, a splash of cumin). It's great for vegetarians as well (minus the chicken, of course).

A mandoline slicer and some zucchini can give you a tasty pasta substitute. Blanch for 30-60 seconds and green noodles you have. Add a sauce, or I love it with good olive oil and some salt and pepper.

I love to wipe my counters down with eucalyptus oil. It kills odors, is a top notch disinfectant and I never worry about the kids putting a snack on the counter and then picking it up with odd chemicals attached. We can talk later about why our kids would not just use a plate all the time, but that's another interview.
