I have a couple of charities that are important to me. The first is Hope for the Warriors. Military wives founded this organization in 2006 as they witnessed first-hand, the effects of war on spouses and their families. The group's mission is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Services include career transition and education programs, health and wellness counseling, and community building initiatives for military families as they transition into civilian life. As a makeup artist, I feel so lucky to be free to pursue my passion. Makeup is such a luxury and that privilege to be free to pursue my passion comes from a freedom that these Vets make huge sacrifices to ensure.
And of course the incredible, important work done by my girl Mariska Hargitay at the Joyful Heart Foundation to heal, education and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, and to shed light into darkness that surrounds these issues. The work I did on SVU changed my life and the life of so many people by shedding light on these crucial issues through telling their stories. Mariska took it one step further towards supporting survivors.
