MEET | SARAH EASLEY
Featured 1.23 -1.29.17 | Fashion can be intimidating. Fashion on a beautiful woman who stands almost six feet tall can be downright formidable. Unless, of course, that woman is Sarah Easley; then it's simply awe-inspiring. Easley has been around the fashion block a few times, having founded Kirna Zabete, the multi-brand luxury store that brought big names to a little neighborhood known as SoHo back in 1999. Over the course of its 17 year run (!), she managed to find time to design her own line, share her knowledge of all things fashion with the world on television and in print, and has served as a mentor for the Council of Fashion Designers of America. But perhaps the most inspiring thing about Easley is the way in which she makes even the highest of fashion accessible to those of us who aren't quite sure how to do it, never taking it too seriously and always on hand to lend an honest and very girlfriend-y opinion. I remember the first time I stepped into Kirna Zabete, I was a true fashion virgin, and she put me to ease in a way that I'd never experienced when it came to getting dressed in "grown up" clothes. Today, Easley has become the voice of fashion, focusing on brand building and guidance for both established and emerging designers with the launch of Sarah Easley Fashion Consulting, and she continues to help women find joy in their closets. Welcome to Sarah's week.
more about sarah
Sarah Easley stands just shy of six feet tall (in heels), but in the fashion world she's a giant who spans the lanes of fashion retail, styling, design, and consulting. In 1999 Sarah co-founded Kirna Zabete, the multi-brand luxury fashion store in what was then no mans land: Soho, NYC. During her 17 year run at Kirna Zabete, Sarah brought boldface brands such as Alaia, Chloe, Balenciaga, Lanvin and Dior to downtown clientele tired of trekking uptown for their favorite fashion. Perpetually ahead of trends, Sarah helped launch brands such as Rick Owens, Anthony Vaccarello, Thakoon, Proenza Schouler, Veronica Beard and Rosie Assoulin, being one the first retailers to carry their groundbreaking collections. During her tenure at Kirna Zabete, Sarah also designed and launched high-profile collections for Target, Nine West, and Gilt.
Known as a soundbite-ready fashion expert, Sarah has appeared on television shows including CNN Style, and E! and is regularly quoted in publications ranging from The New York Times & The Wall Street Journal to Vogue, ELLE, Harpers Bazaar, In Style & TIME. As a public speaker, she has shared her insights on fashion to audiences all over America. Always looking to inspire the next generation of talent, Sarah has served as a mentor for the Council of Fashion Designers of America since 2012.
In 2016 Sarah launched Sarah Easley Fashion Consulting, which focuses on working with both established and emerging designers. Her insider's perspective enables her to optimize designer collections for retail sales and media exposure. SEFC offers brand building for emerging talents, positioning them for long-term strategic growth.
