Featured 8.13-8.19.18 | Ghee is to 2018 what sundried tomatoes were to 1990. And if I’m being honest, I have to admit that I actually didn’t understand either food product when they arrived on the scene. And while I’m still mystified by the tomato, I am squarely in the corner of ghee lovers everywhere. For starters, it has a way sexier following (Kourtney Kardashian can’t get enough of the clarified butter), it has a ton of health benefits, from aiding in digestion to improving muscle function and energy levels, and it tastes really, really good. Which is why I’m so excited to introduce Raquel Tavares, founder of 4th and Heart,the line of one-of-a-kind line of gourmet, flavored grass- fed ghees. The Brazilian-born, California-raised mother of two and former techie, grew up in an Ayurvedic home and made her first batch of flavored ghee over a decade ago. And while her first love is creative writing with snowboarding and R&B in close second, her heart truly belongs to this untapped culinary treasure. We kind of think she’s an untapped treasure, too.
