ONE PERSON | SEVEN DAYS
MEET | CHARLOTTE MCKINNEY
Featured 12.10-12.19.18 | While you might not see model Charlotte McKinney pose for high-fashion or strut any runway during any fashion week, here’s what you will see her do: Eat a burger with aplomb (she might also be naked while doing so. At least that’s how it went down in the Carl’s Jr ad she premiered during the 2015 Super Bowl — with more than 100 million people watching); own her femininity without apology (her “girls” as she likes to call them might be the asset she is most proud of, after a young adulthood spent trying to pretend they didn’t exist), be the first to laugh — at anything, but mostly herself; and maybe most importantly, you’ll always — always — see her using her celebrity to get shit done. Whether it’s her work with Best Buddies or her passion to always be learning, McKinney is a doer of the first order, with an energy that can only be attributed to a life spent hustling. In fact this Malibu girl (by way of Miami), dropped out of high school at 17, thanks in part to being bullied (the “girls” again, naturally) and in larger part to her dyslexia, a combination which proved lethal for her academic career but beneficial to her path to fame. But even that wasn’t without it’s share of hardships (she’s not quite as tall as some would like, and her 34-24-34 measurements are somehow not considered to be perfect. What the actual fuck?), so yes. She’s a hustler. She’s also smart and hilarious and kind and inspirational. And she’s all ours for the next seven. Welcome to Charlotte’s week.
