MEET | RACHEL GOODWIN
Featured 2.11-2.17.19 | We have a hard and fast rule about people: Those who dedicate themselves to making others feel more beautiful are usually the ones who possess the most beauty themselves. To wit: Makeup artist to the stars, Rachel Goodwin, who has spent more than 20 years painting the faces of some of the most gorgeous gals out there (Hey, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Cindy Crawford, Lydia Hearst), is herself, one of the kindest, most joyous and most beautiful people we’ve ever met. But Goodwin doesn’t just prove our theory, she encompasses it, using her gift as an artist not to promote vanity (which would be easy), but to serve instead as an architect of beauty, albeit on skin rather than canvas. And her quest for all the pretty things doesn’t end with her day job. She’s as passionate about her work supporting the public education system and fighting for equal rights for all humans as she is about ice cream (her devotion includes an Instagram account, @thesundaetimes, which — you guessed it — turns the frozen confection into, well, art), dancing (she spent eight years as part of a belly dancing troupe, complete with snakes and swords) and of course, her family. So yes, Rachel Goodwin is proof positive that beauty really is an inside job, and we’re excited to spread her light. Welcome to Rachel’s week.
