I’m so excited to tell you guys about the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship Fund, an initiative I just launched in partnership with my good friend, Chef John Besh’s, Chef’s Move! program. The Aarón Sánchez Scholarship Fund is an initiative that empowers aspiring chefs from the Latin community to follow their dreams of attending culinary school. We’re going to provide a full scholarship for one year of culinary school in New York at ICC, mentoring opportunities and I’ll be taking them on an immersion trip to Mexico once they’ve finished school. I’ve been so fortunate to have so many amazing mentors throughout my career, who have helped me both in and out of the kitchen, and I’m hoping to do the same for the younger generation.
We recently had our first Mentor’s Dinner in New Orleans, where three chefs that I’ve mentored and one of my mentors, Chef Douglas Rodriguez, came together to cook an amazing meal. It was so amazing to see all of these young chefs (Miles Landrem, José Colin Jr., and Deuki Hong) who I’ve mentored and see the great things they have accomplished. I’m so proud of each and every one of them!
