What initially drew us to one another was our strong, individual connections to South Africa - Simone having been born in Zimbabwe and raised in Cape Town, and Shannon being married to a South African. We both became passionately involved with ikamva labantu, an organization committed to creating sustainable socio-economic change in Cape Town’s township communities. They work hand-in-hand with children, families and seniors to empower communities to become more self-sufficient through training, resources and education in order to move toward a brighter future in South Africa.

Another connection that bonded us is our family’s history of Macular Degeneration. We are both involved in the Luminaires Juniors which helps supports vision research at the Doheny Eye Institute through extensive fundraising and volunteer contributions. Doheny Eye Institute has made amazing strides not only in researching to conserve, restore and improve human eyesight, but takes the humanistic approach of education and patient care that are so often skipped and overlooked.

Both organizations go hand in hand with our philosophy of empowering our clients and educating them about the products they're using. Too often makeup and skincare is just thought of as superficial, but we look at what we do as the chance to instill confidence on the outside, so you feel beautiful within.
