MEET | JAINA LEE ORTIZ
Featured 3.19-3.25.18 | If you don't recognize Jaina Lee Ortiz, just wait a minute, because she is literally about to blow up. The California-born, Bronx-raised former Salsa star has been dancing since the age of 9 and acting since 2009, but this week (March 22 to be exact), she's going to be seen in living rooms across the country as the star of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Station 19. Another masterpiece by the thankfully female-centric writer and showrunner, Shonda Rhimes, this drama focuses on a group of firefighters with Jaina's character right smack in the center. But her impending and massive celebrity shouldn't come as a surprise: Spend even a minute with her and you'll be struck by just how star-worthy she is. And it's not because she's beautiful (she is) or smart (that, too) or because she's a fantastic actress (obviously), but it's because she knows where she came from, is grateful for every opportunity she's been given and has a sense of humility that can often be hard to find from a celeb of her caliber. We're thrilled to feature her on the eve of her certain stardom, and we're sure you're going love her just as much as we do. Welcome to Jaina's week.
