MEET | JAMIE CREEL + MARCO SCARANI

Featured 7.8-7.14.19 | While the rest of us peck away at our keyboards, priding ourselves on all the cool things we’ve ‘collected’ on our Pinterest boards, a couple of intrepid explorers are venturing out over land and sea (IRL) in search of actual treasures to add to their modern-day cabinet of curiosities. A mounted lobster claw, a Nigerian headdress and a guillotine cigar cutter are among the myriad treasures and oddities you’ll find at Creel and Gow, the jewel of a boutique on the Upper East Side of New York City run by owner Jamie Creel and his partner in work and in life, Marco Scarani, who travel the world to source unusual, one-of-a-kind objects for their magical emporium. Here’s the deal: Jamie, an avid traveler and collector, and Marco, a former fashion exec at Givenchy and Ungaro, met in Paris over 20 years ago (that’s 150 in gay years, according to Jamie) and the chemistry couldn’t be ignored — in life and in work. Today the dashing duo (because they are) divide their time between Manhattan, Paris and Tangier, and while it would be easy to hate them for their seemingly charmed life, they make it virtually impossible. In fact you’d be hard-pressed to meet two more genuinely down-to-earth guys who also happen to be stylish, fun and terribly, terribly charming  — so charming, in fact, that you can’t help but want to be a permanent fixture in their glamorous lives (but no, they’re not looking to adopt an adult human, we asked.) When they’re not working side by side at Creel and Gow, they’re hiking the Camino de Santiago, hosting elaborate dinner parties in Tangier or scouring the antique markets of Paris. They’ve done it all, they’ve seen it all and lucky for us, they’re sharing it all.
Welcome to Jamie and Marco’s week.
