For the past six years, I have started each new year with a special Indagare retreat at Mii Amo in Sedona Arizona, my favorite spa for nurturing. The hiking and the healers are amazing. In fact, I’m here now! This year we have Elizabeth Lesser, the co-founder of the Omega Institute, leading sessions.
I rarely have time for breakfast but I like starting the day with healthy habits, so my go-to quick fix is mixing a few ounces of POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice, with some natural Kefir, and a scoop of powdered Complete Greens from The Ranch Malibu. I mix the three in a bottle, shake it (no blending needed) and you get antioxidants, probiotics, protein and vitamins to go.
Arianna Huffington’s book on sleep, The Sleep Revolution, really convinced me that seven hours of sleep should be a sacred ritual, so I try very hard to practice it.
Meditation has truly changed my life. One of my dear friends gave me Deepak Chopra’s 21-day meditation challenge app a few years ago, and now I start every day with 20 minutes of meditation. There are a whole series of them on his website.
I used to think of massage as an indulgence but now I believe that a good health regimen should include regular massages to improve circulation and organ function — they are medicinal and feel great.
I try not to get sun so I cover up in sunny destinations, and I use moisturizers with SPF like Origins Plantscriptions SPF 25 Anti-Aging Cream and La Mer’s Reparative Skin Tint with SPF 30. I will even add powdered protection like those from Bella Donna or Eminence.
