Featured 4.1 - 4.7.19 | It’s no secret that the unofficial New York uniform is all black everything, no matter the season or the occasion. But let’s face it — it can get pretty boring after a while, and that’s where Stephanie von Watzdorf enters the picture. As founder of the Free Spirit-meets-Sophisticate clothing line, Figue, von Watzdorf is on a mission to turn the fashion world from black and white to technicolor, and she uses her perpetual wanderlust to fuel her creative fire. Inspired by the richness of her travels across the cultures and countries she’s visited, from Tanzania to Paris and Bali to Morocco, and her childhood, spent between New York, Paris Positano and Isola dei Galli off the Amalfi Coast (where she and her grandfather, Leonide Massine, the renowned Ballets Russes choreographer whose circle included Matisse, Picasso and Igor Stravinsky — NBD — ate so many figs she named her brand after them), the French-born designer has the Bohemian pedigree and the super brand background (she designed for Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani and Ralph Lauren) to make for the perfect marriage of laid back and luxe. So get ready to Marie Kondo the hell out of your tired, monochromatic closet  and start injecting a little bit of von Watzdorf’s multi-colored magic. Welcome to Stephanie’s week.
