FASHION | A COAT FOR ALL SEASONS (+ ALL BUDGETS)

The snow’s been falling in New York City and the winds are blowing like a third grader learning to play the flute, which mean it's high time to invest in a fabulous winter coat, both to act as a fashion topper, pulling together every outfit (sweatpants plus a pea coat are ultimately chic), and for warmth. We’ve rounded up the best for the season, including classic cuts in everlasting colors like camel, or spunky puffer coats in Millennial Pink. And as a special treat, we’re hacking the high-end style of lauded designers, bringing you both the high and low options to get the same style. Stay Warm.

For the classic woman, look to these timeless Max Mara coats in red and camel. The simple pockets, elegant lapels, and sturdy fabrication means you’ll have this beauty for the rest of your life. #investment

For the ultimate stand-out-in-the-crowd puffer, this red Moncler down coat is the ticket. There is literally no feasible way that you’ll be cold. Like seriously.

For a more toned-down version, try this Millennial pink puffer also from Moncler. Gotta say though, this version from H&M is practically identical, and you know, way cheaper.

Have you ever seen anything more divine than these eccentric Alberta Ferretti coats ?  In electric pink and yellow, you’ll be sure to stand out in a sea of boring suits.

Apparently, there is something called a Teddy Bear Coat dominating the outfits of celebs this winter. If this makes me feel like I’m cuddling at home with a stuffed animal, I’m in. This chic version from Stella McCartney is faux (as always with her}, and stunning. I'm pretty obsessed with Max Mara's version which has been seen on everyone from Carine Roitfeld to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. And here's a less expensive version from Tularosa, which is also pretty amazing.

I seriously need to make an individual category for this brand because t’s life changing. Sosken, a Canadian outerwear company, is one you need to know ASAP. Their coats are out of this world good. I wear my Emma Boiled Wool on the daily and covet the Beda Down in Grey, but it's really the Elizabeth that is a show-stopper.

Orolay Down Jacket. I have been stopped more times than you can imagine by people wanting to know when Prada started making this coat. But they didn't. It's super cheap ($89) and it's from Amazon.

Really loving the off-center zipper and cropped length on this Sacai puffer

Kendall + Kylie Reversible Puffer. Because it's Kendall + Kylie, obv.

Not sure how warm the Harvey Faircloth Field Jacket with Fur Trim will keep me, but I'm a sucker for multi-colored fur on anything at anytime.

Bombs away! These Miu Miu bomber jackets are equal parts fun and functional. The athletic waistband and wrist cuffs are super on trend and the pronounced collar is sure to insulate your neck. Kiss your old scarf goodbye. Obsessed.  For a nice middle ground, try this Sandro option, with a great print and fantastic silhouette.

This pink version from H&M maybe isn’t quite as chic, but you can't beat the price or the perfect dusty pink color.
