If you've ever experienced the magic of driving the entire length of Long Island until you reach The End, then you understand the magic of Montauk. Escaping the hustle of New York City in the brutal heat of summer is one thing, landing in Montauk is something entirely different. It's a true retreat from city life and it's one of the last real towns left on the East End. And if you're lucky enough to be visiting this little slice of heaven, we'd like to recommend a place to lay your head, because we have a favorite and we want you to know about it. Enter The Breakers, an iconic property that dates back to the 1950s and recently underwent a massive reno, making the beachfront property even better than before. With luxury amenities, a delicious cafe, and a chic retail selection, they’re doing everything right. And if you manage to snag one of the 25 rooms this summer, please send pics because we'll be green with envy. Here are our favorite Breakers moments.
Some of New York's best fitness studios (Hit House, DanceBody, Brrrn and Y7 Yoga to name a few) set up shop almost every weekend and offer complimentary fitness classes curated by Alise Collective. Complete with cool perks like iced Fiji Waters and Supergoop! sunscreen. Sounds like the perfect way to undo whatever you might have done last night, right? Sign me up.
All Day @Breakers
With a menu by Robert Seiber, the All Day offerings are top-notch. The tuna poke bowl is a particular favorite, but you can’t go wrong with the selection he’s dreamed up. And if you’re feeling super homesick for the West Village, praise be, because their cold brew is from Toby’s Roasters. Yum.
With indie brands from Well Told Health and Sunday Forever to Kempton & Co and Starfysh Wetsuits, the curated selection of retail products at Breakers MTK is a dream. If you forgot your swimsuit, they’ve got you covered. If you forgot your sunscreen, they’ve got you covered. If you want a chic momento to remember your trip, they’ve 100% got you covered.
These cottages by the sea are pure, unadulterated joy. With retro, mid-century modern decor, whitewashed walls and the most comfortable bed you'll ever sleep on (thank you, Leesa), I'd actyually recommend a staycation even if your summer home is just down the street.
This might actually be the cutest pool in Montauk. If you want a place where you’d ACTUALLY like to submerge your entire body underwater, this is the one for you. The lounge chairs are enticing, the waiters are friendly, and they won't kick you out. Plus, there's a an ocean breeze that kicks up later in the afternoon, making it the perfect place for a little apres-beach.
