I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in 18 years. Really, since my children were born. So, trust me when I tell you that I have tried every single sleep and relaxation aid known to man. After years of exhaustive research, I am here to share my tried-and-true sleep tricks that (I think) really work. First, start with the basics of good sleep hygiene: A cold bedroom, blackout shades and dear God, NO exposure to blue light devices (TV, tablet, smart phone, computer) at least one hour before bed. A really boring book helps too. Are you feeling sleepy yet?

I put a scoop of this relaxing magnesium supplement in my water every night before bed. It helps with anxiety, sleep and leg cramps. Plus, it’s all natural and quickly improves magnesium deficiency.
Dohm White Noise Machine
I’ve tried them all and this is the best. This machine effectively drowns out noise and the soothing humming of the machine is very relaxing.
Sleep Pillow App
This app has saved me countless times when I’m traveling (noisy hotel neighbors, street sounds) and don’t have my at-home sleep aids.
Bose Noise Masking Sleep Buds
Best. Gift. Ever. Pop these babies in and you’ll never hear a snoring partner or garbage truck again. They fit comfortably in your ears even if you’re a side sleeper.
Dodow Sleep Device
Created by a former insomniac, this device trains you to fall asleep naturally by matching your breathing to a light the device shines on the wall or ceiling. You can do 8 or 20 minute increments and when you’re done you’ll feel like you’ve done yoga or meditated. This works really well to calm an overactive mind and mellow you out before bed.
Kirkland Sleep Aid
A doctor recommended this to me as a safe, effective sleep aid and it has become my go-to — especially for the inevitable Sunday night insomnia!
Dosist Sleep Pen
For nights when I need something a little stronger, I turn to the Dosist Sleep Pen. Another insomniac I know swears by it and brought me one from LA where marijuana is legal. The pen delivers a small, precise dose (it buzzes when you’ve reached it) that addresses a specific health issue like anxiety or sleep. You do not feel high — just calm, mellow and sleepy.
