Let’s be honest, couldn’t we all use a little more chill in our lives right now? That’s why this week we’ve tapped Kristi Knoblich Palmer, the founder of California-based company KIVA Confections which specializes in creating delicious mints, chocolates and other cannabis-infused treats to help guide us towards relaxation. Here, Knoblich Palmer is sharing her seven tips for how to incorporate cannabis into your day-to-day routine, from long flights to yoga.
1. Get Your Host High
Be the dinner party hero get your host high. After the dishes are done and the guests have left, you can bet your friend will be singing your praises when they pour themselves a cup of cannabis-infused chamomile tea and have the best sleep of their life. My pick? Kikoko’s delicious tea selection, which provides 10mg of THC and 5mg of CBD and incorporates ingredients such as lemongrass and spearmint into their tea bags.
2. The Hangover Cure
It’s no secret that when you get the girls together for book club on a Tuesday night, wine will most definitely be included. The problem with wine-ing on Tuesday is it is followed by working on Wednesday. Cannabis can solve this problem! A Camino Sparkling Pear Social Gummy will have everyone gabbing and laughing minus the aches and pains the next day. (Side Note: If you have to bring wine because you’ll be excommunicated if you don’t, try this unique central California white with honey notes. I discovered it in my Firstleaf quarterly subscription, which is a subscription wine box that delivers wines from top vineyards around the world to your door.)
3. Flying High
I look for any excuse to get on an airplane not only because I love to travel, but because it's a perfectly acceptable time to nap — midday — in public. The comfortable seats make my eyelids heavy, or maybe its the Petra mint I popped on my way to the airport. Either way, I have trained myself to look forward to a plane nap, and the mints are just the ticket to help me master it.
4. Work Smarter
i can come up with 100 reasons why today is not a good day for a workout, and that’s when I start negotiating with myself. I always win when I add a little motivation to the equation. i.e., When I ask myself, what if I have a little cannabis and then head to the gym? Ok, suddenly I’m in! Try one to two hits on a Brite Labs Vape Pen before walking in to a yoga class. Or try a 2.5 mg CBD/THC Kiva Espresso Bar 35 minutes before a scenic run of three to six miles and suddenly working out will be a lot more fun.
5. No Pain No Gain
Despite trying to spend less time on my phone, I'm always on my phone. And so my right pinky gets sore as it serves as the perfect little iPhone shelf for texting single handedly. At night, I slather on some Dr. Kerklaan Natural Pain Cream and I’m back to texting with no pain in the morning.
6. Up Your Cocktail Game
I am always looking for ways to feel like I’m cheating when I’m on a diet. When you’re on the clean-healthy-whole-30-whatever, cannabis is an acceptable way to get your buzz on without breaking the rules. Inhalable products like Prism Lites are completely calorie-free and many edibles are made without ingredients on the no-no list. You get an evening's worth of fun without the guilt! To replace a vodka soda, add a couple drops of Humboldt Apothecary’s Uplift CBD tincture over Kombucha or sparkling water and viola! Instant canna-cocktail that’s on the plan.
7. Getting High is Fun, Duh
At the end of the day, using cannabis is fun and makes you feel good! I strive to share the cannabis love wherever I go; I pack Lola Lola Pre-Rolls to let friends in on the fun, too. Pack that goodness into a cute little elephant pipe to make sure everyone is smiling even before they take their first toke.
