TSS | The 7 Best Fertility-Friendly Beauty Products

Jennifer Huang - Headshot hi res (3).jpg

I’m a big believer that what you put on your face affects more than just your looks: It can have huge impact on your hormonal health as well. So I’m obsessed with making sure my beauty products are natural — that means no sulfates or parabens that can be harmful to your reproductive health. The good news is that there are so many products out there right now that are clean, and some that might actually amp up those life-giving nutrients. With that in mind, here’s a list of some of my top choices for your best baby-making beauty products.

1. Mario Badescu, Drying Cream
If your skin is even thinking about breaking out, this drying cream is just the thing for some effective spot treatment. It’s free of the harmful ingredients like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid and instead counts on sulfur as the primary ingredient. And here’s the good news: sulfur increases production of an antioxidant called glutathione which is known to boost egg quality.

2. HATCH Strength + Shine
HATCH might be a collection of beauty products designed specifically for pregnant women, but that doesn’t mean you need to wait for a bun in the oven before benefiting from them. Help boost your hair’s health by using this serum a few times a week. One of the main ingredients is avocado oil—a favorite for fats that promote women’s fertility.

3. HATCH Belly Oil
HATCH’s Belly Oil includes Calendula (marigold) which has been known to help regulate menstrual cycles and reduce painful menstruation with its anti-inflammatory properties. Stretch marks and dry, itchy skin are not symptoms reserved only for pregnant women. Use this on your belly but also on your chest and upper legs to control dry skin and stretch marks.

4. 100% Pure Blood Orange Cleansing Balm
I found buried treasure and I’m sharing the goods. Admittedly, Blood Orange Oil is the 6th listed ingredient, but that’s only because the first five are avocado, coconut, olive leaf, olive oils and beeswax. So yeah, it’s good for your skin and melts your makeup right off (like buttah) but also think about all the nutrients your skin is soaking up. Avocado is known to aid in nutrient absorption and citrus has vitamins that actually help regulate ovulation. So yes, slather this gold all over your beautiful face.

5. dpHUE Apple Cider Vinegar Scalp Scrub
Himalayan salt and apple cider vinegar? Yes, please! This scrub is made to help balance your pH levels and to invigorate your scalp. It’s perfect for those who feel dry or are dandruff prone, or for any gal who just wants healthy, shiny hair. The fertility benefit? Apple cider vinegar has been used to treat infertility due it’s pH balancing qualities that make your uterus a more hospitable environment.

6. Oribe Touch Up Spray
I could go a whole nine months without a trip to the salon with this root touch up. As an added bonus, the spray adds texture to my hair as it absorbs dirt and oil — perfect for a hustling momma.

7. Glossier Super Glow Vitamin C
Retinol is a no-no for during pregnancy which means many look to vitamin C to help preserve and boost their complexion. Oh, and get this; Vitamin C has been known to trigger ovulation for women!
